Bowmore, the first Islay Single Malt from the beautiful island of Islay is proud to release a new limited edition for 2010.

Bowmore 1981 is a rare and limited release of only 399 bottles worldwide.

It is the first in the Bowmore vintage series and accordingly we anticipate it will be a collectors ‘must-have’!

Signature Bowmore bourbon hogshead.

Non chill-filtered and cask-strength.

On the nose, you’ll detect indulgent treacle toffee, figs, smoked vanilla pods and a lightly fragrant fruitiness like plum jam or stewed rhubarb.

On the palate is the light rush of earthy smokiness. This gradually clears to show the heart of Bowmore subtle fruitiness balanced with sweetness and the tang of Atlantic saltiness.

Hand crafted to perfection by our Distillery Manager and his specialist team, this unique spirit has been nurtured in the finest oak casks during its long maturation in our famous Bowmore Number One Vaults below sea-level.

From thrashing waves and Atlantic gusts to the purest water and finest peat, the ancient elements have also helped in shaping this Single Malt.

Laid down in 1981, this limited release of just 399 bottles has been awakened for you to enjoy. On the nose - detect treacle toffee, ripe figs, smoked vanilla pods and a lightly fragrant fruitiness. Anticipate a whisper of earthy peat-smoke on the palate, giving way to more fruit perfectly balanced with the tang of Atlantic sea-salt. The subtle fruity finish goes on forever. Sip and savour the taste of Islay’s first Single Malt Whisky
