Extra Informatie: Illegal distilling has been known to take place since 1790's. The distillery used their own floormalting 7 days a week until 1976, when Hiram Walker (now Allied Domecq) bought the distillery. Then it was gradually reduced until it finally stopped in 1980. The distillery was mothballed 1981-1989 and again 1996-1997. Glenmorangie plc bought the distillery in February 1997 for £7 million and started distilling again. The distillery is equipped with 1 wash still and 1 spirit still. The water comes from Loch Uigeadail about 5 miles from the distillery.

We all know Ardbeg packs a peaty punch, but if you remove some of that peat, can Ardbeg still retain its perfect balance? The mind bog-gling answer is "yes"! By taming our usual mighty peating levels we have created Blasda, peated to an average of just 8 parts per million phenol (8ppm) compared to the more usual 24ppm.
